Fiel is an awesome room named after an awesome lion at the end of awesome bidge. This room  is located on our second floor and boasts a modern feel and a big comfy bed, with lots of hang out space.

Firme-our full kitchen suite. For Firme I kept it bright and open, simple and natural. With a king bed, a beautiful brand new walk in shower and brand new kitchen, you’ll never want to go home. The housekeepers making your bed everyday won’t hurt either. 😉

Pax—meaning Happiness(?)— this room and it’s beautiful original woodwork was not to be messed with! I played off and expanded that to bring the old world charm of Saint Augustine to the inn. This and (Homewood) are our nods to the oldest city in America, with a touch of modernity of course. The room is on the smaller side so we gave it a queen bed, but cuddling couples only take up a few feet right? We also gave her our largest mirror to open the space up. It’ll make your inner Instagramer drool!

Peli— … our last lion. Peli is our Peaceful lion. I kept the room light, simple, beautiful and calming. You’ll have a queen bed to snuggle down into with your favorite person and walk-in shower to clean them up. I’m hoping this room leaves you with a calm in the storm that is Saint George Street, so you can be refreshed every morning to go and explore more and more of this great city.

sarabi

Sarabi- Sarabi is … in … (it is also Simba’s mom 😭) Sarabi is our brightest room. I love the starkness of the black trim and kitchen against the gentleness of the cream walls. You’ll have a fridge and microwave to warm up last nights leftovers from Carmelo’s and a king sized bed to eat it in, should you be an animal, like myself.

castillo

Castillo— our castle, the castle rooms really let me play. I was inspired by the fort. From the minute I saw it I knew I wanted to somehow incorporate its essence into the inn. I warmed it up with some cream, some wood and of course tons of foliage. I gave you a king bed, a modern closet (which is not a closet at all) and a walk-in shower. I hope this room makes you feel strong and beautiful.

Fort mose

Matanzas (unfortunately meaning murder) is named after the fort as well and is our most modern room. With a tub it is also our largest bath. This room is a photographer’s dream. A king bed nestled in a stone (looking 🤣) round will bring you Fort… vibes! I wanted big and bold and different in here! The light fixtures are oversized, the furniture is comfortable, and everything is a little weird! You’re going to love it or hate it. Come find out! 😁

Ponce de Leon was an explorer who discovered Florida – now it is your turn! This room is equipped with everyone one might need after a long day of adventuring in our incredible city. A big walk-in shower, a huge comfy bed, and Hulu Premium Plus!

Sarabi – our lioness, and a labor of love, with nearly 70 hours spent on the bathroom floor alone.

This is a spacious, well lit room, full of textures, that you will find both elegant, and modern. Sarabi invites you in with her king size bed and sunshine from her walls full of windows.

Wake up in your ultra-comfy bed and brew a fresh cup of premium coffee on the home-built kitchenette with its concrete counter top. Now, go enjoy that hot coffee at your private seating area, on your deck, or the garden out front.

Rinse off after a long day of being a tourist in a spacious shower with two shower-heads! This is my favorite room.

Fiel: Our faithful Lion – whose namesake proudly protects the northeast corner of the Bridge of Lions which connects Saint Augustine’s historic downtown to the beach.

Fiel is an expansive room. All of our rooms offer a king bed, premium coffee, and fridge/microwave. One could be happy here for a long time.

I have a very wabi-sabi* heart, and with the Lions in particular, I wanted to keep it natural, earthy, textural, and simple. You’ll have tons of light thanks to a wall of windows that are original to the house.

The walk-in shower turned out better than imagined, and has plenty of room for two. The travertine tiles’ unique texture and placement create a fun and interesting play of light and shadows.

Relax outside your door on a deck filled with plants, or head to the front garden to relax under the chandeliers.

Fort Mose – pronounced Moh-say, and lovingly referred to as “The Fort”

Located at the back of the house, this is our most private room–I wanted it to feel tucked in and safe. The room is substantial in size, the bathroom small and pretty. I went with a neutral palette that will go with any outfit. I gotchu ladies!

There is a giant leaning mirror to help you look perfect, and a kitchenette to warm up your leftovers from Carmelo’s – the gas station/restaurant nearby that sounds awful–but is absolutely not.

The importance of Fort Mose: “In St Augustine, lie the ruins of Fort Mose, built in 1738 as the first free black settlement in what would become the United States.” I highly recommend this article to learn about Florida’s significant history with race, Saint Augustine’s beginning until now, the complicated man who spent his life trying to find Fort Mose, and the first place in our country where people of color were legally free to choose and create their own lives.

Fort Mose was the first room name I was certain I would use. I feel lucky to have such an important piece of history so nearby and knew I would incorporate it into my life and inn.

castillo

Castillo – named for El Castillo de San Marcos, “St. Mark’s Castle,” the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. The historic fort stands sentinal over the Matanzas Bay , a very short, and pretty walk from the inn.

All of our rooms include a king bed, and this one does not disappoint; hand made by us and over-built, it is larger than life! The bed is tucked into a texture wall that brings to mind Cocina – the strongest concrete in the world – made of shells, and used in the construction of this town and her landmark fort.

The room is extremely photogenic, has the biggest and most ridicuously expensive floor mirror of all the rooms, boasts a large bathroom with one of our two bathtubs, and arabesque tiles in the kitchenette area made by Josie (Check it out),

Castillo is so spacious that both of you can starfish on the floor when you get back from drinking too many of those unbelievable yummy drinks at the Iceplant, and not be anywhere near each other.

Firme: Our firm lion. St Augustine’s Firme lion stands on the southeast side of the Bridge of Lions.

Firme is located upstairs, across the hall from Fiel, and they share a beautiful deck, filled to the brim with foliage and soft lighting. The depth of this long, wide open room will pull you out of your chaotic life and into what I hope is an equal depth of rest and ultimately, rejuvenation.

You’ll sink into a brand new king sized mattress and be enamored with the bungalow ceiling (please watch your noggins!) and mindfully placed foliage above you.

The walk-in shower is massive and textural, and different, just like the rest of the inn.

Adam made y’all a huge, perfectly chunky concrete top for the dry bar, and as always, you’ve got a microwave, small fridge, and premium coffee in the room.

This room and its art piece behind the bed are perfect for photos of you and your spouse, or you and your girl friends all done up for town, or iconically messy haired in the morning, looking like sleepy goddesses!

Pax – our peaceful lion. I was nervous about this room. I painted the walls just to see what a dark room would feel like at the inn. I didn’t think I would keep them. I have wanted a dark room for such a long time but never had the guts.

Pax is my favorite room. I LOVE the way the light sinks into the walls and I would choose this shower over the rest of them.

I spent about a month painting the 9 by 5 art piece above the bed – even had it out at a happy hour in the garden one night and some guests helped me! When I lay under it and look into the room I can imagine Hemingway sitting in the corner reading a book and laughing to himself.

A lot of the rooms feel like women to me. This room feel masculine, strong with Athena bringing her female energy to soften its edges.

I lived in Pax while working on the other rooms so it feels special to me. I have infused it with just a little extra love and I think you’ll be able to feel it.

Peli, our Happiness Lion and our coziest room. The happiness lion on the Bridge of Lions is a boy lion, but for some reason I always felt this room was more feminine than the rest.

This first floor room is stunning with her panels and the herringbone tile floor I fought my contractor hard for!

Like many of the rooms she has a concrete counter top, made by our team, for the kitchenette. Like all of the rooms she has a small fridge, microwave, and premium coffee for you to make for your beloved in the morning. I recommend sitting outside in the garden for coffee sipping.

Pel, as we call her, has a small walk-in shower and for some contrast, a queen sized bed. The soft lighting and exposed brick in this room are so romantic you may just want to stay in and snuggle!
