The Castillo de San Marcos is the nations oldest masonry fort. This iconic coquina construction monolith has survived hundreds of years and is a monument to human determination and endurance. The Castillo should be on everyone’s “to-do” list in Saint Augustine.

The fort is operated by the National Park Service. Inside you will find plenty of detailed exhibits, staff dressed in colonial garb, even live cannon firings!

The Castillo is only a 10 minute walk from Lions and lanterns.

This is the charming and lively heart of the historic district of St Augustine. Come and explore the myriad boutiques, galleries, museums, and restaurants in a historically preserved setting limited to pedestrian traffic. You will also find the colonial quarter to be an interesting experience!

Lions and Lanterns is only a 6 minute walk to the Old City Gate which marks the north end of St George making our property the perfect hopping off point to begin your adventure.

Inside you will find many exhibits, including several that are interactive. We found this attraction to be well worth the price for admission.

What visit to St Augustine would be complete without a visit to the Bridge of Lions? 

Come and meet the pair of medici lions on either end of the bridge. Their names are Pax, Peli, Firme, and Fiel.

The bridge is a great place for a photo-op. Here you will get a great view of the harbor with Anastasia Island on one side, and St Augustine on the other.

Climb up the iconic 165′ lighthouse which was first lit in 1874.

You will also find other informative exhibits here, many of which are hands on and interactive. In addition, there is a boat building program, and demonstrations coving historic sailing and navigation, underwater archaeology and lighthouse history.

flagler college

Go stand in the opulent rotunda of what was once known as the Ponce de Leon Hotel. Built by Henry Flagler  and opened in 1888, this incredible example of Spanish Renaissance construction now stands as the centerpiece of Flagler College.

Go and learn about the significance that Henry Flagler played in our beautiful little town of Saint Augustine. Don’t miss the dining hall which is home to 40 Tiffany stained glass windows.
